R22 Refrigerant Phase Out
In excess of 20,000 air conditioning units in the UK urgently need replacing due to dramatic changes in industry legislation.
Is yours one of them?
R22 is a low temperature refrigerant that has been phased out in all new equipment. The air conditioning industry now uses R410A refrigerant as this has no chlorine content and zero Ozone Depletion Potential.
In 2000, R22 was banned in all new systems
By 2010, the use of virgin R22 refrigerant will be illegal for the servicing and maintenance of air conditioning systems
A complete ban will be in place by 1st January 2015 on the use of all HCFC's
including reclaimed / recycled product
Regulation (EC) No2037/2000 on Ozone Depleting substances - 1st October 2000
